An incredible trip

We are so sorry that we have neglected the blog for the past few days. Wednesday-Today have been a whirlwind of fun. Here is a recap:

Wednesday we went back to Venice Beach for a day of Vocal Rest. We explored the boardwalk and had a great time hanging out, and moving our relationships as Vocal Point from group members, towards true friends. When everyone got home we were all exhausted so everyone decided to stay in and take it easy, while Gill and Garry went line dancing for the true Cali experience. And in case you were wondering, they met up with the Wabash baseball team! They were great dance partners and whipped out their video of Remedy every so often. We can now officially say we have fans in Indiana!

Thursday was a major gig day. We started out the morning at Servite College Prep, the brother school to the all girl's school we sang at on Monday! We performed at the Mother's lunchen and enjoyed a wonderful meal outside. Next we sang at a Korean Assisted Living center, where we got to meet Lindsay's Great Aunt, and Da Hye was able to translate for us!

Thursday night we went into LA for the Glee CD Release party at TigerHeat! We enjoyed a crazy night of dancing and singing! We even saw "Rihanna" perform!

Yesterday was our last full day in Orange County, so we head down to Newport to see the true OC beaches. Gill was extremely excited to visit Newport due to her obsession with the TV show, "The OC" and was sure to take pictures of important TV landmarks.

We spent some times with the Midnight Ramblers who stopped by on their way back from San Diego, and then we headed out to Fashion Island.

Last night we enjoyed a wonderful family dinner and an intense game of CatchPhrase! Then we had some time to reflect on the past week, and everything we have gained from this wonderful experience. After singing to cap off the trip, we all headed upstairs to finish packing and get to bed.

It is now Saturday morning and none of us want to leave. This has truly been the wonderful bonding experience that we needed, and provided us with confidence as a group and as individual performers.

We would like to thank everyone who has come to see us perform this week. Whether you were a high school student or a parent, whether you heard us in Sephora or in a coffee shop, every single one of you has helped us grow as a performance group.

Thank you so much for following us this week! Rochester, here we come!

The Best Tuesday Ever

Yesterday was possibly the best day EVER!!! Corey was able to pull some strings and Vocal Point left the Forbes home bright and early (7:45!!!) for Universal City! Thanks to Corey's friends over at Hasboro Toys, we were granted VIP passes and were going to get a personal tour of Universal Studios! But more on that later.

After a long drive through LA traffic and one rousing rendition of our entire CD Vocal Point arrived in Universal City. Since we were too early, we headed to a coffee shop to kill time. We were greeted by some of the friendliest coffee shop employees who wanted to sing for us if we sang for them. After a great performance inside the shop, and another one outside in the sun, we headed back to Universal to meet up with the Executive Creative Team of the Hasboro Film division! We were treated like MOVIE STARS! We had a wonderful breakfast in the Hasboro bungalow and met Ben and Dan, two of the coolest people with the coolest jobs! We broke into groups of 3 for our own personal golf cart tours of the backlot! We saw the set of Psycho and War of the World. We drove down Wisteria Lane. We got to see where Bruce Almighty was filmed and so much more! Then when we thought things couldn't get better, we sang for the Creative Team and they gave us INCREDIBLE presents. We went home with some of the newest Nerf Guns and board games. CatchPhrase and ScrabbleFlash will now be the new official games of Vocal Point!

We then headed over to Hollywood Blvd and spent a wonderful two hours in the sun, shopping and sightseeing! We saw the Hollywood sign, posed with Mary Poppins, ate more FroYo and enjoyed each other’s company while being complete tourists :)

Then we headed back home for some R and R, got ready for the evening and shared a beautiful dinner with the newest additions to Vocal Point: Grandma and Grandpa Forbes! We warmed up for our performance with the Gaslight Chorus and headed to the venue.

The Gaslight Chorus is Brea's incredible Barbershop Choir! We were invited to sing, along with the Midnight Ramblers, at their open mic night. We had the honor of learning music with them, listening to their beautiful performances, and sharing our music with them in return. This was such a fun experience, and it was really great to see Mr. Forbes in his element! The group is really so talented!

We then came back to the Forbes home, with the Ramblers in tow! We used our new board games from Hasboro to know each other better in a late night hangout session that was way over due. A crazy game of capture the flag also helped to bond the two groups!

It was one very long and fun filled day and we can’t wait for what is to come. Tomorrow is supposed to be beautiful, so we are heading back to Venice beach in the hopes of drawing a larger crowd on the Boardwalk!

We hope you all are enjoying our blog! Stay posted for more updates J

Love as always,

Day 2: Venice Beach and Claire's Arrival

Hey VPeeps,

Yesterday was our first beach day! It was pretty awesome, Venice was so crazy! Even though Hannah and Lindsay were the only ones crazy enough to go into the ocean, we had a great day lying on the beach and chilling out. We made friends on the boardwalk (Jerry? Jared? We don't know!) and (after debating whether we'd get arrested for singing) sang there with a hat out and made a couple of buckaroos!

Afterwards we went out to dinner at an asian fusion restaurant (Buddha's Belly - Lindsay knows how to pick 'em) and then went home, as we were tuckered out from a day of running around the beach. We were all super excited to get back to the Forbes home because Claire arrived! After placing second at her track meet on Saturday, she flew to meet us and is now with us for the rest of the week! Yay!

Today we just sang at Lindsay's high school which was so great - lots of the students stayed after to listen to us sing more!

Now we're back at Lindsay's house - we're going to Downtown Disney in a bit and then more beach time!

Another update soon,
-VP

Welcome to LA!

Hi everyone! We have arrived in sunny LA and couldn't be happier! Yesterday was quite a whirlwind. We arrived in Rochester Airport bright and early at 5AM, to find out that we were missing three of our girls! After sorting out our many cab issues and surviving some awkward pat downs from airport security, we successfully arrived in Chicago! Here we encountered the lovely Baseball team of Wabath College. Since we were dispersed throughout the plane, we all had our own interactions with these southern boys and they BEGGED us to sing for them. Of course we had to oblige and we serenaded them at the baggage claim! We may even meet up with them for some line dancing Wednesday night. More to come on that!

After a beautiful drive through LA and Orange County we arrived in La Habra, California. As Gracie noted, the gorgeous homes remind us of that song from Weeds. “Little boxes on the hillside…” We had an incredible lunch, and got settled in our new home for the week. The Forbes family couldn’t be more welcoming! They have made us all feel so comfortable and have been so hospitable.

We then realized how many things we forgot to pack, and went for a walk to Target! This was a great way to hang out, buy things and get exercise! It wasn’t just a long walk, those hills were challenging! We all kept mentioning how incredible it was that we weren’t wearing puffy jackets, or that we could see the grass! We are all still a bit shocked that we are actually in 80 degree weather. After purchasing tons of sun screen (or tanning oil) and other fun goodies, we headed back to the Forbes home.

We spent the next few hours outside, getting some sun, or just some Vitamin D for those of us who burn instantly. We also incorporated a good one hour rehearsal outside. This was great for two reasons! One, we got to stay outside in the sun, and two, we were able to practice staying in tune with lots of noise. This was a great exercise for our gig on Venice Beach tomorrow!

By this time we were all exhausted. Jet lag was catching up with us and we wanted to go to bed at 6 PM. But we made it though and had a wonderful BBQ dinner, and sang a few songs for Lindsay’s family. Then we called it a night. After watching a Bug’s Life (Gill, Garry and Da Hye’s room) we fell fast asleep!

This morning we all woke up to Bailey practicing piano and the beautiful OC sun. Some girls went to church, some got some extra sleep and Garry went for a run throughout the gated neighborhood. Don’t worry; no coyotes. After an incredible breakfast of Danishes and fresh fruit we are all energized for the day ahead!

We are now packing for a day at the beach! Singing on Venice Boardwalk, then some beach time and then dinner! Hopefully we’ll be able to post some videos soon! Stay posted J

Love,
The Ladies of Vocal Point

Last Rehearsal

Hey VP followers!

Today we had our last rehearsal, which was exciting, but also a little sad since we had to say goodbye to Jamie (who won't be going on tour with us). However, as she's quite wise, she bequeathed upon us some words of wisdom and other fun pieces of advice. We'll miss you, girl!

For the rest of us, we've got 2 days, and we can't wait! We spent today with last minute details, scheduling, and a little bit of singing. We're ready to go!

Counting down the days,
VeePee
